On 14 September, Jullian Gomes and Mr Vinyl teamed up for a signing session in-store. With Jullian Gomes being one of the key figures in the South African Deep House scene, having toured extensively and having released a number of vinyl records; we were really excited to put together the event.
Record collectors from across the greater Johannesburg region came through in numbers to support the signing session and to spend some time with Jullian. He played through most of his own releases on the turntables in store and spent 2 hours signing records, shirts and meeting fans. Most titles from Jullian Gomes are completely sold out on vinyl worldwide, with the exception of latest release – ˜Bruno & The Birds” and limited availability of ˜Love Me” (a collaboration between Jullian Gomes and Atjazz, remixed by Kaytronik).
Like previous signing sessions with TKZee and Msaki, we were really humbled and touched to see the turnout and support for our local music heroes. At one stage, Jullian started playing his own copy of ˜Late Dreamer” on vinyl, which was really great to see, as it is one of the most collectible South African dance music records of recent years. A special shout out to DJ Abby Nurock for attending, and the fan of the day award has to go to the gentleman who brought through 6 of his own Jullian Gomes records for signing (including the St Germain Remixes).
